Director, IT Application Development

SUMMARY:
To effectively manage the application development, database and application support staffs in order to develop major and minor software systems, maintenance and support of existing systems, and providing exemplary level of service for production systems. This includes project management of individual software development and integration projects.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Project management - delivers quality products and projects (applications or services) within time and cost expectations.
• Service Level management ensures that all production and test systems (Unix, NT and other) are available as required for our internal and external customers.
• Leadership motivates associates to perform the best they can and guides the associate in their personal development.
• Strategic Planning understands their functional area of expertise and the nature of the business to provide technical leadership for the company.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• College degree, Masters Degree in Computer Science or Business preferred.
• Ten years of systems development experience.
• Five years of management experience required.
• Key Skill sets include: Proficient in planning and estimating, understanding of programming languages (.Net and SQL experience preferred), good organization and communication skills, leadership and technical proficiency.
• Demonstrated abilities to work with team members and to quickly deliver while balancing budget, time and expectations.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Solid understanding of SQL.
• Professional, hands-on experience with open-source systems, applications, and tools.
• Retail network and systems experience.
