The Opportunity

Lakeshore Learning has built a trusted brand over more than 70 years through e-commerce, catalogs, retail stores, and a high-performing sales force. While customer loyalty had long been a business priority, leadership recognized an opportunity to transform it into a broader enterprise growth strategy.

Sophelle was engaged to assess the organization’s existing customer loyalty program and identify opportunities to strengthen customer engagement, increase repeat purchases, and maximize long-term customer value. The initial assessment revealed a broader enterprise opportunity: customer loyalty was influenced by digital, retail, marketing, analytics, operations, and technology, but these functions were not aligned under a unified strategy. Lakeshore Learning needed a cohesive loyalty vision and a practical, multi-year roadmap to align the organization around a modern, customer-centric growth strategy.

The Approach

Current-State Assessment

Evaluated the loyalty ecosystem across six critical dimensions: the value proposition, marketing effectiveness, technology stack, customer data infrastructure, operational processes, and organizational capabilities, to identify structural gaps and strategic opportunities.

Cross-Functional Alignment

Facilitated collaboration across senior stakeholders in digital, retail, marketing, IT, analytics, and consumer sales strategy to establish the foundation for a cohesive omnichannel loyalty approach.

Strategic Framework Design

Developed a next-generation loyalty vision centered on four strategic imperatives to drive long-term customer value and organizational alignment.

Practical Roadmap

Delivered a phased implementation roadmap that balanced immediate opportunities with longer-term transformational initiatives.
